Our world has become so fast paced with ever increasing demands on our limited time and personal resources. Often we can feel over stretched with little time to nourish ourselves, both in terms of healthy food as well as for self-care. We are constantly bombarded with images and ideas of what is right and perfect, and often a sense of guilt of not doing enough or being “perfect” enough weighs heavily on our conscious.
What can we do to help ourselves detach and slow down the pace of life? To extend those moments of calm and contentment into days and weeks of living?
Building connections, to ourselves, those around us, and our environment is what will help to create a slow-living lifestyle. I make pottery with love, care, and consideration for you. When you pick up a piece of handcrafted pottery you are holding something made from this earth for you to use to nourish yourself.
These pots are objects to bring together your family and friends around to talk, connect, and nurture yourselves. It doesn’t need to be a lavish gathering. It’s about coming together in those daily moments over a meal and sharing.
Or it can be a moment when you need some time to gather your own thoughts, reach for your favorite comforting mug and make some tea. Or to sit and appreciate your first morning cup of coffee with the mug that has become a best friend, that helps to start your day off right.
There is an innate connection created between humans and the earth when using an object that has been made from the earth and considered by someones hands. Celebrating what is unique in our environment encourages us to celebrate and acknowledge our own unique qualities. There is no other mug the exact same as this one, and there is no one else the exact same as you. Far too often we compare ourselves to those around us, and all we see are our flaws. Those flaws are what make you unique and beautiful.
